The origins of Aviation and Cosmonautics
Central House of Aviation and Astronautics is Russian oldest and one of the first air-space museums in the world. There you can learn the history of aviation and cosmonautics. All museum staff are directly related to aviation and the director is a veteran pilot sniper!
The display in 5 halls is dedicated to the aeronautics and aviation, their establishment and development from the first balloon flight to the most advanced hypersonic aircraft.
In the Museum you can find the following:
– the Hall of Sport Aviation and parachuting;
– restored office-museum of the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, where his books, things, gifts, even his office furniture from Zhukovsky Air Force Academy are on display.
– the hangar hall with aircraft engines, missiles, bombs, small arms and artillery of aircrafts and helicopters. Here you can also see the elements of the equipment of a combat aircraft: a pilot’s G-suit of a supersonic fighter, flight suit “Baklan” for the world’s best bomber Technical Specifications -160, ejection seat, air sights, items of equipment and a host of other things.
Tours are guided by the museum staff, who show thematic videos on the history of aviation and space exploration for adults and children.
